Have you ever wondered the extent to which father involvement is supported at the federal, state, and local levels?

Wonder no more.

The Child and Family Research Partnership (CFRP) at the University of Texas at Austin just released an excellent brief that provides an overview of what’s happening at each level. While not exhaustive, it provides:

  • A synopsis of how efforts to support father involvement at the federal level evolved and became integrated across multiple federal agencies.
  • Several examples of state initiatives that have been particularly effective in supporting father involvement generally.
  • A list of states that have committed to supporting father involvement among incarcerated fathers specifically.
  • Several examples of local initiatives (i.e. city and county) to support father involvement.
  • Lots of examples of state and local partnerships and coalitions that support father involvement.

The CFRP will update the brief, so if you’re part of an effort at any of these levels that’s not mentioned in the brief, please let CFRP know at cfrp@austin.utexas.edu. Let’s help the CFRP grow this resource into a more comprehensive one!

For more fatherhood-related research from CFRP and NFI, check out our Fatherhood Research page in the Free Resources section of our website.

And if you don’t yet have a copy of Father Facts™, click here for a description and to order it. Father Facts, now in its 7th edition, remains the most comprehensive source of research and statistics on the consequences of father absence and the benefits of father involvement.

Before you read the brief, how aware were you of efforts at the federal, state, and local levels to support father involvement?

Are you part of an effort at any of the three levels that CFRP should add to the brief?
